The Lewis County Litter Grant program is funded by the Tennessee Department of Transportation Highway Beautification Office. In receiving this funding, Lewis County is tasked with providing litter pick up in Lewis County and to provide anti-litter education to its residents. In the last 12 months, 209,520 pounds of litter have been picked up off the roads in Lewis County. The Lewis County Litter Grant donated a total of 1,200 backpacks and 3,000 pencils to be shared by the Lewis County Elementary School, the Lewis County Intermediate School and the Lewis County Middle School. The backpacks and pencils have the message of "Keeping Tennessee Beautiful", which encourages students to not throw trash out on the highways. We live in a very beautiful community, please dispose of your trash properly.
