The Dickson County High School gates opened at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, allowing for 15 counties worth of cheerleaders to take the football field one squad at a time where they performed a routine for 2021 Tri-County Youth Sports.

Our local Jr. Pro squad showed up and showed out. The Peewee division placed First and our Major cheerleaders took home Fifth Place. The Minor division did not place but that does not take away from their hard work and great performance.

Junior Pro Mascots from left are Paisley Green, Zaelyn Helms, Myka Brown, Addie Harris. Not pictured is coach Nicolette Flowers and Jr. Coach Khloe Chapin.

"These kids have worked so hard to have this day," said Assistant Cheer Director Brandy Bennett. The Jr. Pro team and cheerleaders started our their season on a make-shift football field on Commerce Drive. They were later told that the field would be temporary due to grant requirements and would have the field until the end of the year. The cheer team have since moved their practices to Memorial Park upon needing lights.

"The youth in our community need a field and these kids are proof of why we need our own field," said Bennett. "Jr. Pro has been around for 56 years. We shared a baseball field for practice with no lines to go by and kids guessing where to stand... Our county needs to show just as much dedication to these kids as they do to the sports they love. Let's get our children a proper field for the 2022 season and show them we are all about."
