One Day At A Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 30

December 2, 2021

Well it feels like a cold early winters morning here in our little valley. I have gotten a good warm fire going in the old wood heating stove, I have started on my second cup of hot coffee. The cats had a really good breakfast this morning, they had chopped turkey from Thanksgiving with a little warm gravy on top and now they are back on their beds with full bellies and ready for a nice long cat nap.

The leaves are all gone off the trees and we have gotten the leaf piles cleared away now, but the cats sure did enjoy those piles of leaves, they played in them like little kids. Our mama cat has went away somewhere, we couldn’t find her last week when we came home, the younger cats are looking everywhere for her. She has been fixed and she seems healthy and happy, we are hoping she will come home soon.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, all my kids and grandbabies were here. During Thanksgiving I was thinking about how truly blessed we are. I also thought that we have all had bad things happen and we have been through hardships but in the end it always seems that the good outweighs the bad. I hope that all of you during Thanksgiving could think of blessings that you were thankful for. I got out my pen and paper and wrote down more things that I was thankful for.

I met a lady a few years ago and she has to wear oxygen and carry an oxygen tank everywhere she goes. Every time that I see her, she has a smile and when I ask her, well how are you doing? Her answer is “I am fine and I am blessed,” it makes me a little ashamed of myself when I complain about my little problems.

We have a lot of firewood on our back porch, now it is almost full. I am still wondering what kind of winter we will have, but we are ready for it no matter what.

We are still eating Thanksgiving leftovers, everything sure was good, we all ate way too much. From the extra turkey I have made a big bowl of turkey salad. I sure hope all of you had plenty to eat on Thanksgiving and enjoyed it and now I hope all of you are like me and looking forward to Christmas.

I have gotten about fifteen Christmas trees up with my sons’ help, there are six big trees and the others are small trees. I didn’t get as much done as I had planned but it is beginning to look a lot “more” like Christmas around here. I try to make a lot of homemade gifts. I don’t do a lot of Christmas shopping and I don’t do “Black Friday.”

I am looking for the good in every day and enjoying what blessings the good Lord gives me. It won’t be long now until it is a new year and I am believing that this coming new year will be a good one. This year has been a better year than last year was. We have gotten through the hard times together, we need to continue helping each other and keep each other in our prayers.

I am not going to worry about what may happen tomorrow and I am just going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God Bless.
