Cleo Mable Harris

Cleo Mable Harris, well known as "Granny," passed away on December 8, 2021, at 104 years and six months old. She celebrated her 100th birthday while residing in her home of 72 years in Wayne County. Since 2017 she was a resident of the Perry County Nursing Home. She drove herself to her beauty shop appointments and the senior citizen center until her 98th birthday. All the neighbors knew to move over and give her space when they saw her coming.

Cleo was born May 28, 1917, to Laz and Ethel Sharp Inman in Perry County. She married Woodrow Harris on January 3, 1937. They raised a daughter, Patsy, and two sons, Alton and Larry. She was an employee of the Henry I. Siegel Company for seven years. She spent most of her life as a homemaker.

Cleo has four grandsons, Brian Harris, Jerry Harris, Timmy Dale Harris, and Daryl Nash; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Celo enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was also well known for her cooking.


Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, Laz and Ethel Inman; her husband, Woodrow Harris; one son, Alton Harris; two daughters-in-law, Billy June Harris and Shelby Harris, and one son-in-law, Harold Nash, and six siblings.

Services were held at the McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. on December 9 with the funeral on December 10 at 11:00 a.m. Burial was at the Swiss Cemetery.
