December 16, 2021

The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers and Panthers returned to the hardwood on Monday, December 13th, traveling to Lyles for rematches with the East Hickman Lady Eagles and Eagles.

The Lady Panthers and Lady Eagles played for the second time, a week after the Lady Eagles defeated Lewis County 58-18 in Hohenwald. The Lady Eagles jumped on the Lady Panthers from the tip, starting the game on a 24-0 run in the first quarter. East Hickman would then score the first four points of the second quarter before Blayr Clayton made the first Lady Panther basket, and the Lady Eagles would go on to extend their lead at the half to 36-4. The pace slowed in the second half of the game, as the Lady Eagles continued to build on their lead and held a 43-8 advantage as play moved on to the final eight minutes of action. With a running clock in the fourth, the Lady Panthers would put up eight points in the period as East Hickman took the win at home 51-15. Blayr Clayton led Lewis County with 8 points on the night, Mya Siever added 4, Serenity Warman 2, and Emily Bratcher 1.

The Panthers fell to the Eagles 49-48 in a game a week earlier that went to the wire in Hohenwald and took the floor in the second game trying to earn a season split. East Hickman took the lead early in the opening period, pulling out to a 17-8 lead as Dyer Barnes and Austin Shepherd each had 4 to account for the Lewis County scoring. The Panthers began to fight back in the second quarter behind 5 points from Barnes to outscore the Eagles 12-6 in the quarter and went in at the half trailing 23-20. The Panthers would come out after the half and continue to climb back into the game, limiting the Eagles to only 4 points in the third and pulling to within 2 at 27-25 moving on to the fourth quarter. The Eagles would respond in the fourth as they pulled away to take the win 45-35. Dyer Barnes finished with 11 points, Austin Shepherd 10, Rhett Middleton 8, Cade Lomax 4, and Hunter Smith 2.
