One Day at a Time
January 13, 2022
Well it is a very cold morning here in our little valley. We have got a layer of ice on the ground and a blanket of snow over the ice and the snow is still coming down. It is very quiet and still, it seems like nothing is moving. I looked in on the cats and they are still snuggled under their blankets in their good warm beds, and they don’t seem to be hungry. The cats may not be hungry but Bob sure is. I made a skillet of homemade biscuits and a big pan of gravy to go with his eggs and sausage, a good breakfast really is good on a cold morning like this.
Hopefully the snow will stop before it gets too bad. I like seeing a little snow, but we have already had more snow this year than usual and we are just starting winter. The house is good and warm and we have now finished our breakfast and I have got my second cup of coffee, and the cats have finally got up for their breakfast. They ate and went back to bed.
I think a lot of us have been wondering what kind of winter we would have. Maybe we are now beginning to see what kind, but you know it won’t be long before spring. I went to my storage bins to get some potatoes and onions and the potatoes had little sprouts on them and the onions had little greens starting on them, so you see as fast as the time is moving it will be spring before we know it, so I think I will just settle in and enjoy the snow.
I heard in the forecast that the snow was coming so I went ahead and cooked us up some food so all we would have to do is warm things up a little if the power goes out. I have got my quilt started and I plan on working on it for the next few days, I will have it ready to quilt before long. This is the best part of winter to me.
I know a lot of people are not prepared for this kind of weather and I know it is hard on them and I try to help anyone if I can. When you hear that there is bad weather coming, there is a lot we can do to get ready for it, being prepared for things sure makes life easier. I think about the story of the grasshopper and the ant, it is an old story but it sure makes a lot of sense and we can learn a lot from it.
There is still a lot of trouble and sadness all around us, a lot of sickness and stress. Maybe we should try to think positive about things, I believe things are beginning to get better, there doesn’t seem to be as much covid and people are going back to work and businesses are beginning to open back up. Maybe when spring gets here we will really see a big difference in how everybody feels. But let’s all keep praying for one another.
Well I am going to get busy, the snow has almost stopped, it sure is pretty. I am not going to worry about tomorrow, I am going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God Bless.
