Hunter Education class to be held

A TWRA sponsored Hunter Education class will be held March 15, 17, and 18, 2022 at the Lewis County High School. Classes will be held from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. each day. Written test and Firing Range will be held on Friday afternoon. Students must attend all classroom sessions, written test and range to be certified.

Students must pre-register online prior to March 15, 2022. To register, go online to twra.org. Click on Hunter Education. Click on in person hunter education, then on find a class. Select the Lewis County High School, then fill out registration form. The first night of class students must bring their Social Security numbers in case there was a problem with the registration process. If you do not have access to the internet let an instructor know the first night of class and we will assist you with this requirement. Bring a number two pencil with you to the class.

All materials needed to complete this class will be provided by TWRA. Do not bring any personally owned firearms or ammunition to this class.

Students must be at least nine years old as of March 18, 2022 to be certified. Anyone 10 years old or older born after January 1, 1989 must have completed a Hunter Education Class and have proof of completion in their possession while afield hunting. This class will give instruction in safe firearms handling in the field and in the home, Hunter Ethics and Responsibilities, Wildlife Conservation, Safety and First Aid. The goal of this class is to instill a safety first attitude among hunters both old and young. If there are any questions concerning this class, contact Jimmy Walker at (931) 628-5284.
