Lewis County's very own Batman, Scotty Hinson, recognized by Fox News

February 24, 2022

Scotty Hinson had his very own segment on Fox News with reporter Dennis Ferrier for being Lewis County's biggest fan.

For anyone who has come in contact with Scotty, it comes as no surprise that he is Lewis County Sports' biggest fan. He attends every basketball and football game all dressed up in black and gold. At football games he even proudly sports his Batman cape.

Hinson has worked at Lewis County Middle School as a part-time janitor since 1995, just days after graduating high school.

"He is a panther to his bones," said Benny Pace in the segment. "He's a Lewis County sports fanatic and he's all about the Panthers... He's all in and never has anything negative to say about anything."

Scotty talked to Ferrier about why he believed the Lady Panthers were having a rough season, saying "Maybe they don't have any continuity.. They ain't got no chemistry. Something ain't clicking this year," he said.

Ferrier and his photojournalist happily attended the basketball game to witness Scotty's halftime show where he continuously made shot after shot from behind the free-throw lines. "The loudest cheers for this game came for Scotty," said Ferrier.

"When Scotty comes out, everybody cheers for Scotty," said Stacey Graves, Principal of LCHS, "It brings you back to that human kind of love for one another."

In the segment, Scotty addresses the crowd by saying, "I'm not done yet. I want to keep doing this at 50."

Lewis County High School recognized and celebrated Scotty as their biggest fan on Friday, February 18, 2022, which marked his 25th year as a part-time janitor and as Lewis County's Fan of the Year.
