City of Hohenwald Police, Hohenwald Fire and Maury Regional Emergency Medical responded to a crash on East Main Street Tuesday, March 29, just before 9:00 a.m. A Mack truck, operated by Evergreen Recycling of Jackson, was returning to Jackson from a delivery in Mt. Pleasant and was stopped at the traffic signal at East Main and Industrial. Julie Staggs was coming into town from work in her Kia Sportage and told officers she fell asleep. The Kia rear-ended the stopped Mack, causing damage to both vehicles.

Hohenwald Police Officers Robert Fransen and Justin Osborne worked the scene. Maury Regional Emergency Medical treated and transported Staggs to Maury Regional for further treatment. The driver of the Mack was checked by medical personnel for minor injuries.

Taylor's Wrecker Service towed the Kia and D and D Towing from Columbia towed the Mack truck. One lane of west bound traffic was blocked during the event.
