The Lewis County High School tennis team hosted the Summertown Lady Eagles and Eagles on Monday, April 4th at LCHS.

In girls’ play Lewis County’s Ryleigh Ruddle was the number 1 seed and faced the number 1 seed for Summertown Gracie Kelly. Kelly rolled through the match to an 8-1 win for Summertown. In the number 2 seed match it was Ruth Jennings of Lewis County against Libby Konig of Summertown. Konig shut out Jennings in an 8-0 match. Isabel Greve was Lewis County’s number 3 seed and played against Summertown’s number 3 seed Emma Perry. Summertown’s Perry took the win with an 8-2 score. In the number 4 seed match Lewis County’s Brooke Mason faced Hope Jones of Summertown. Jones took the match with an 8-0 final. Serenity Warman of Lewis County faced Annalee Kelly of Summertown in the matchup of number 5 seeds. Kelly took the win for Summertown by a score of 8-3. In doubles action on the girls’ side, Ruth Jennings and Serenity Warman played together for Lewis County against the pairing of Gracie Kelly and Annalee Kelly of Summertown. The Summertown pair of Kelly and Kelly took the match with an 8-2 final. Isabel Greve and Ryleigh Ruddle played together for Lewis County against Libby Konig and Emily Dotson. Summertown won the match 8-2. In the final doubles match on the girls’ side, Lewis County sent Brooke Mason and Kaylee Collins to play against Summertown’s Emma Perry and Hope Jones. In an abbreviated match, the Summertown pairing of Perry and Jones defeated Mason and Collins 4-2.

The Lady Panthers finished the day 0-5 in singles play and 0-3 in doubles action.

In boys’ action Bryson Clayburn played as the number 1 seed for Lewis County and faced Summertown’s number 1 seed Blake Gilliam. Gilliam pulled out an 8-4 win in a tight match. Malachi Bruce, Lewis County’s number 2 seed on the afternoon, faced Aniken Johnson, the number 2 seed for the Eagles. Johnson took the 2 seed match with an 8-3 final. In the 3 seed match Lewis County’s Ethan Powers faced Summertown’s Noah Daniel. Noah Daniel took the victory for Summertown with an 8-1 score. Braxtin Thomas played as Lewis County’s number 4 seed against the umber 4 seed of Summertown Ricky Darnell. Darnell took the win by a score of 8-2. Jeremiah Sparks was the number 5 seed for Lewis County against Summertown’s number 5 Luke Chapman. Summertown picked up another match win as Chapman defeated Sparks 8-2. Julian Jones was the number 6 seed for the Panthers playing against Eagles number 6 seed Eli Powell. Powell defeated Jones 6-0. In the final singles match for the boys’ Lewis County’s number 7 Gavin Carroll lost to Summertown’s number 7 Joseph Smart 6-0. Bryson Clyburn and Malachi Bruce paired up for doubles play for the Panthers and played against Blake Gilliam and Noah Daniel for Summertown. The Summertown duo of Gilliam and Daniel took the match 8-3. In the only other doubles match in boys’ play Lewis County sent Braxtin Thomas and Jeremiah Sparks against Aniken Johnson and Luke Chapman. Summertown took the win with Johnson and Chapman winning 8-1.

The Panthers finished the day 0-7 in singles action and 0-2 in doubles play.

The Lewis County High School tennis teams traveled to Centerville for matches with the Hickman County Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs on Thursday, April 7th.

Ryleigh Ruddle played as Lewis County’s number 1 seed in girls’ play and faced Lady Bulldog’s number 1 seed Audrey Orton. In a close matchup, Orton pulled away for an 8-5 win. In the number 2 seed match on the girls’ side, Lewis County sent Ruth Jennings up against Ashley Shelton of Hickman County. Shelton took an 8-1 match win for Hickman County. In the 3 seed match it was Lewis County’s Isabel Greve facing Hickman County’s Liza Mays. Mays defeated Greve in another close matchup, 8-5. Brooke Mason, Lady Panthers number 4 seed, faced Lady Bulldogs number 4 seed Kilee Jenkins and took the first singles match win for Lewis County by a score of 8-4. Serenity Warman of Lewis County was the number 5 seed for the Lady Panthers and faced Hickman County’s Avery Rochelle. Warman defeated Rochelle 8-2. In girls’ doubles play, Lewis County duo of Ruth Jennings and Serenity Warman took on Hickman County’s Audrey Orton and Ashley Shelton. The pair from Hickman County shut out the couple from Lewis County 8-0. Isabel Greve and Ryleigh Ruddle of Lewis County faced Liza Mays and Kilee Jenkins of Hickman County in the final doubles match. Lewis County’s pairing of Greve and Ruddle took the win 8-3.

The Lady Panthers finished the day 2-3 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles.

In boys’ singles play Bryson Clayburn played as Lewis County’s number 1 seed against Hickman County number 1 seed Weston LaRue. Clayburn defeated LaRue in a close match 8-6. Malachi Bruce was the number 2 seed for the Panthers, facing Bulldog number 2 seed Kaden Jones. Jones shut out Bruce in an 8-0 win.

The Panthers ended play 1-1 in singles action.

The Lewis County Lady Panthers and Panthers tennis teams hosted the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers and Tigers on Thursday, April 14th.

In girls’ action, Lewis County’s Ryleigh Ruddle was the number 1 seed facing Mt. Pleasant’s number 1 seed Maylee Fisher. Ruddle took control of the match and took the match 8-3. In the matchup of number 2 seeds it was Ruth Jennings for Lewis County against Gracie Boyd of Mt. Pleasant. Jennings pulled away to victory with an 8-1 score. Brooke Mason was the number 3 seed for Lewis County and played against number 3 for Mt. Pleasant, Hailey Mayo. Mason shut out the Lady Tiger 8-0. Serenity Warman was the number 4 seed for the Lady Panthers against Lady Tiger number 4 Ciera Buleo. Warman was dominant in the match, winning the match 8-0. In the 5 seed matchup, Lewis County sent up Kaylee Collins against Mt. Pleasant’s Audrey Kinzer. In a very close match, Collins pulled out the 8-5 win. In the final singles match on the girls’ side, it was Mary Halfacre as Lewis County’s number 6 seed against Estelle Mendoza of Mt. Pleasant. In a match that would extend into extra points, Mary Halfacre came away with the 9-7 win. In doubles action, Ruth Jennings and Serenity Warman faced the Mt. Pleasant pairing of Maylee Fisher and Gracie Boyd. The Lady Panther pair of Jennings and Warman defeated Fisher and Boyd by a match score of 8-2. In the second girls’ doubles match Lewis County’s Brooke Mason and Ryleigh Ruddle faced Lady Tiger duo of Audrey Kinzer and Hailey Mayo. Mason and Ruddle defeated Kinzer and Mayo 8-3.

The Lady Panthers swept singles play 6-0 and doubles play 2-0.

In boys’ play, Bryson Clayburn was the number 1 seed for the Panthers against Tiger number 1 seed Harrison Staugh. The match was tight to begin, but Clyburn broke serve and was able to pull away to an 8-4 win. Malachi Bruce was Lewis County’s number 2 seed against Mt’ Pleasant number 2 seed Philip Fasten. Bruce took control of the matchup early on and cruised to a victory 8-2. In the final boys’ matchup in singles play, Ethan “E-set” Powers, playing as the 3 seed for the Panthers, took on Taylor Waldrop, the Mt. Pleasant number 3 seed. E-set pulled out the win for Lewis County 8-3. In the lone doubles match on the boys side, the pairing of Braxtin Thomas and Jeremiah Sparks for Lewis County faced Harrison Staugh and Philip Fasten for Mt. Pleasant. In a long, back and foth match that went into extra points, it was the pair from Mt. Pleasant, Staugh and Fasten, that took the doubles win 9-7.

The Panthers were 3-0 in singles play and 0-1 in doubles action.
