Wayne Helton, age 69, a resident of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Park Ridge Medical Center in Chattanooga.

He will be laid to rest in Lynnwood Cemetery in Lynnville. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Better known as "Sun Drop" to many, Wayne was born on April 3, 1953, in Columbia and was the son of the late Herbert Helton and the late Joyce Owen Helton. He worked many years for Pepsi and alongside his father at Sun Drop and later worked as a truck driver, before retiring in 2017. In his youth, he enjoyed traveling, dirt bike riding, and scuba diving. His greatest passion was music.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Darla) Helton of Hohenwald, daughters, Erica Watkins of Pulaski, Joanna (Dalton) Conley of Dayton; brothers, Philip Helton of Culleoka, Michael (Vicki L.) Helton of Cornersville; sister, Linda (Larry) Sanders of Cornersville; grandchildren, McKenzie Bub, Bailey Watkins, Alivia Helton, Jase Conley, Nakeshia Papajeski, Dalton Papajeski, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Vicki R. Helton.
