Letter to the Editor; Thank You so very much to the MLEC linemen

Series: Letter to the Editor | Story 29

Dear Editor and Community,

I want to give a big Thank You so very much to the MLEC linemen who rush out after their regular work hours and risk their personal well being to get the power back on for all of us, whether the outage is caused by uncontrollable weather, crashes from out of control vehicles, or equipment malfunctions.

I’ve been told they get a lot of flack from the community for how long it takes sometimes to restore electricity, but frankly, I’ve been pleasantly surprised, on more than one occasion, at how quickly they get it back on. It’s kind of sad to think that community flack may be the reason they felt compelled to spend money to include a brochure in our electric bills which spells out the details about outages. Please read it: “Who’s On First?” if you haven’t already. There’s good tips on being prepared for these occasional power disruptions.

So instead of complaining, let’s thank the linemen and other supporting MLEC employees for the great work they do for us and for four other counties besides Lewis County. And on a side note, thank you so much for the incredible feat of getting great broadband service to our rural communities - it’s been life changing.

Sincerely,

Barbara Elliott
