February 6, 1928 ~ June 13, 2022

Ms. Eva Virginia Carroll Dudley peacefully passed away at the age of 94 on June 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Life Care Center in Centerville, TN. She was born on February 6, 1928, in Hohenwald, TN. To the late Marshall and Virginia Carroll. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Mr. Walter Daniel Dudley, siblings Walton "Cheat" Carroll, Alton "Catfish" Carroll, Melvin Carroll, Joe Carroll, Dorothy DeVoy, Edith Lammers, Jean Karcher, and Lucille Holt.

Ms. Eva is survived by her daughter Kaye Wise (Gary Wise) and son Jimmy Dudley; grandchildren Melissa Dawn Bell, Chris Dudley, Brian Dudley (Darlin), Brooke Williams (Jeremy) Stephen Dudley, Daniel Dudley, and Cristopher Pollock. She also leaves behind to cherish her sweet memory her brother Glenn Carroll, and great grandchildren Tyler Dudley, Eli Dudley, Ashton Williams, Christian Williams, Jayden Williams, Blaize Williams, and Brensley Dudley. Ms. Dudley is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and one special niece whom she called her "Favorite" Theresia Lammers.

The "Dud" as she was referred to by many, dedicated her life to caring for not only her family but many others in the community. At the age of forty she began nursing school at Baptist in Nashville. Having two children at home to care for she was still determined to obtain her degree. She would travel on a bus from Centerville to Nashville for 18 months straight to achieve this goal. After graduating she worked the next 30 years at the Lewis Health Center caring for most of Lewis County. There was a running joke inside the hospital when she was called to give the "dud treatment" to persons twice her size! Eva never backed down to get those around her treated.

She was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Flat Rock Church of Christ in Hohenwald. Many will remember her for her amazing cooking and meals. She was best known for her dumplings and fried chicken. When she wasn't in the kitchen she could always be found outside tending to her garden or riding around getting her favorite treat, ice cream. Ms. Eva never met a stranger and had the most giving heart of anyone around. Nothing meant more to her than her sweet family. She loved her grandchildren bigger than anything. Many memories were made that they will be able to carry on in her honor.

Visitation with family and friends was at the chapel of Adair Funeral and Cremation Services from 12:00-2:00 on Wednesday June 15, 2022. Funeral services began at 2:00 pm with burial following at Downey Cemetery. Brother Joe Paul Bryant and Chaplin Greg Easton officiated.
