Bill Dyer seeks re-election

My name is Bill Dyer, and I am announcing for re-election as your county commissioner in the 8th District. I am married to Paula Dyer. We have three children, Chris Dyer, Tabitha Dyer Seiber, and Jacob Dyer. We also have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. All our children attended school here in Lewis County and after retiring from being involved in the Lewis County School System for almost 30 years, 22 of those as a teacher, Paula ran successfully for 8th district school board and serves in that capacity today. We are very vested in the future of Lewis County, Lewis County Schools, and the future of both. We attend First Baptist Church in Hohenwald.

Thank you to all the voters of the 8th district for electing me to three previous four year terms as your commissioner. We have faced many critical challenges in our county through the years, but in the last four years we have had an abundance of grants come through which have helped the budget tremendously. There have been many other issues on which tough decisions have had to be made. If you have been to our meetings, you know that if it comes down to it, I am not afraid to ask the hard questions. I once read that if you keep doing the things you have always done, you will keep getting the results you have always gotten. I am not a fan of business as usual. One of the biggest issues we have faced and continue to face is the operation of the Lewis County Landfill. I have serves on the Solid Waste Committee for the last four years and have fought against all the unnecessary taxes and fees that have been levied on that. Many of you who have been taxed just because you have a business license, have come to our meetings, and we have successfully been able to get your name off the list on some of these changes. I will continue to fight against this in the next four years.

The winds of change are beginning to blow here in our county in a positive way. There will be many other decisions, changes, and challenges that we will face in the next four years. I look forward to working to see that these are all positive for the betterment of Lewis County. One of the most recent changes is the new director of our schools. I would like to wish Benny Pace the very best after his decision to step down as Director of School and thank him for his work through the years. I also would like to welcome Dr. Tracy McAbee as our new director of Lewis County Schools. As a commissioner, I look forward to working with Dr. McAbee and all the Lewis County School Board members in advancing our education system here in Lewis County.

Thank you for your vote and confidence in the last three terms that you have elected me for, and I certainly would appreciate your vote on August 4, 2022. I am looking forward to having the opportunity and privilege to serve the citizens and taxpayers of the 8th District and all of Lewis County for the next four years.
