Portion of Hwy 412 dedicated to Director Pace

Friends and family of Benny Pace, former Director of Lewis County Schools, gathered together with county, city, and state officials to commemorate Pace's years of service to our school system on June 30, 2022, Pace's last day on the job.

County Mayor Jonah Keltner began by saying how proud he was to be able to honor Pace on his last day by getting the sign passed through local and state government with the help of Senator Joey Hensley and Representative David Byrd. He added that he hoped Pace and his family would also be proud to pass the sign to and from their home.

Mayor Keltner, Senator Hensley and Representative Byrd all thanked Pace for his years of hard work and dedication to Lewis County's school system.

Pace then thanked everyone for coming out, "I look around at all these faces and I'm so proud that my family is here. There's more to family than blood, and when I say family I mean all of you."

He talked of how honored he felt to work with his coworkers over the years, how he will miss seeing them every day and what they've meant to him.

Pace's eldest son, Brady, unveiled the sign and everyone gathered around for a picture with the Director of Schools one last time.
