Elephant Awareness Month

August is officially Elephant Awareness Month in Hohenwald, Lewis County, and throughout Tennessee.

Last week, Hohenwald Mayor Danny McKnight and Lewis County Mayor Jonah Keltner joined Tennessee Governor Bill Lee in signing an official proclamation stating elephants are vital to our planet - deserving of the best care possible in the wild and in human care, and encouraging citizens to join them in recognizing Elephant Awareness Month in Tennessee.

The proclamation also recognized The Elephant Sanctuary's 27-year history of caring for retired elephants and educating the public about the need for conservation. More information about August events at the Elephant Discovery Center coming soon.
