LCMS Lady Panther volleyball

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panther volleyball team opened their 2022 season under new head coach Mattie King as they travelled to Leoma to take on the Lady Rebels.
The Lady Panthers wasted little time jumping out in front of the host Lady Rebels behind an early point streak of 8. Lewis County pulled out to an 11-2 lead in the opening set and cruised to take the first set of the match 25-13. The second set started much closer than the first as both teams broke service multiple times and the set was tied after three rotations 6-6. The Panthers would start to open up a lead at the midway point of the second set and pulled away to a second set win 25-10 and take the match 2-0.
In the junior varsity match, the Lady Panther JV and the Lady Rebel JV went back and forth in a tight opening set. Leoma pulled away late in the first set for a 25-18 win. Lewis County's JV came back strong in the second set taking a lead at the midway point of the set and hanging on to win the second set 25-22 and force a third set. The Lady Panther JV would score the first 8 points of the third set and pull away to a 15-11 set win and take the match 2-1.

The LCMS Lady Panthers travelled to Collinwood on Tuesday, August 3rd for volleyball action against the Lady Trojans.
In the first set of varsity play the Lady Panthers opened up a lead on their second rotation as they ran off a point-streak of 13 to take a 17-8 lead, going on to secure the first set by a score of 25-12. The Lady Trojans rebounded in the second set of the match behind a pair of long point runs to take the second match 25-6 and even the match up at one set each. In the final, deciding set of varsity play the Lady Trojans again pulled away from the Lady Panthers to take a 15-5 win in set 3 and take the match 2-1.
In junior varsity action the Lady Panther JV matched the Lady Trojan JV point for point through a long, tight opening set that saw Collinwood pull out in front late and take the first set 25-22. The second set was dominated by the Lady Trojan junior varsity as they took the lead early and never let up on their way to a 25-11 set win and secured the match 2-0.

The Lewis County Lady Panthers hosted the Hampshire Lady Hawks in their first home match of the 2022 season on Friday, August 5th at LCMS.
The Lady Panthers opened the first set of action with an 8-point run and built an early 10-4 lead. Lewis County would stall midway through the opening set but regrouped and went on to take the first set by a score of 25-23. After the Lady Hawks started the second set on a 5-point run, Lewis County broke serve and took the lead behind an 8-point rally of their own and continued to pull away to a second set win 25-8 ns took the match 2-0.
The Lady Panther junior varsity and Lady Hawk junior varsity took the floor prior to the varsity match. The Lady Hawks secured an early lead, but Lewis County bounced back and took the first JV match by a score of 25-17. Hampshire's JV would regroup in the break and put together multiple point-runs to pull away to a 25-14 win in the second set. In the deciding set Lewis County used an 8-point run midway through the set to cruise to a 15-8 set win and take the match 2-1.

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panther volleyball team hosted the Hickman County Middle Lady Bulldogs on Monday, August 8th.
In the varsity matchup the Lady Panthers fell behind midway through the first set after matching the host Lady Bulldogs in the early going. With the set tied at 6, Hickman County rallied on a 7-point streak to pull out in front and the Lady panthers had no answer, dropping the opening set 25-16. The brief break gave Lewis County an opportunity to make adjustments, and they answered in the second set by taking a 25-19 set win. The Lady panthers kept the momentum in the final set of varsity play, taking a 9-2 lead ahead of a Hickman County timeout, and fought to take a 15-11 win in the third set and take the match 2-1.
In junior varsity action ahead of the varsity matchup, the Lewis County JV and the Hickman County JV played a close opening set as the teams went back and forth for the first 9 rotations before the Lady Bulldog JV ran off a 14-point streak to take the win 26-24. In the second set the Lady Panther JV came back with purpose, running off a 12-point run in a 9-9 tie to pull out in front on their way to a 25-10 set victory. In the third and final set of junior varsity action the teams locked up in another tight set, but in the end it was the Lewis County junior varsity that took a late lead on their way to a 15-12 set win and 2-1 match win.

The LCMS volleyball Lady Panthers traveled to Summertown for an afternoon match with the Summertown Lady Eagles on Tuesday, August 9th.
In the varsity match the Lady Panthers carried a 6-5 lead into the fifth rotation when the Lady Eagles put together a 10-point run to distance themselves from the visitors en route to a 25-12 win in the first set. Summertown kept the momentum after the break, limiting Lewis County service point opportunities and opening up a 14-8 lead at the midway point. The Lady Eagles would finish off the Lady Panthers in the second set with a 25-18 win, taking the match by a score of 2-0.
In the junior varsity matchup prior to the varsity match, the Lady Panther JV kept things close through the first 7 rotations, trailing the Lady Eagle JV 13-10. But the Lady Eagle JV would begin to pull away and ended the first set up 25-17. The second set of junior varsity action was a mirror image of the first as the teams matched points in the early rotations before Summertown used a pair of multiple-point runs to open up a lead at 19-8 on their way to taking the second JV set 25-17 and winning the match 2-0.

The Lewis County Middle Lady Panther volleyball team traveled to Centerville on Friday, August 12th for a match with the Hickman County Lady Bulldogs.
The junior varsity teams took the floor for JV action prior to the varsity match on Friday afternoon. With the Lady Panther JV leading 24-12 in the fifth rotation, the Lady Bulldog junior varsity held service for a streak of 14 points with the set on the line to take the opening junior varsity set 26-24. Lewis County's JV squad regrouped after the break following the long Lady Bulldog service but trailed until late in the second set when they hit a point-streak in double-digits to secure the win 25-10 and even the JV match at 1-1. In the deciding set, the Lady Panthers fought to a 15-12 set win to take the JV matchup 2-1.
In varsity play Hickman County jumped out front after 3 rotations to a 14-8 lead and proceeded to take the opening set by a score of 25-16. The break came at a good time for Lewis County as they were able to regain focus and consistently broke the Lady Bulldog serve early on. Midway through the second set the Lady Panthers ran off 7 points to gain the lead and would carry the lead through the end of the set to win 25-19. This set up a critical third and final set. A big 5-point run in a close abbreviated set was important for Lewis County to seize the momentum, and they matched the Lady Bulldogs the remainder of the set to take the set win 15-11 and take the match 2-1.
