Attkisson

On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the Lewis County Sheriff's Department was working patrol in the area of Metal Ford Road and Summertown Highway when deputies observed a known subject, with active felony warrants for arrest, on a motorcycle coming off Metal Ford Road.

Deputies activated emergency equipment, attempting to conduct a traffic stop, when the subject fled deputies on the motorcycle. The subject fled from deputies starting on Summertown Highway. He then turned onto Grinders Creek Road and continued through Buffalo Road, turned onto Allen's Creek, then Buttermilk Ridge Road. The motorcycle then turned onto Highway 64 where he wrecked the motorcycle just outside of Waynesboro.

The driver of the motorcycle identified as William Gabriel Attkisson, 32, of Hohenwald, was taken into custody. The deputies discovered 10.4 grams of methamphetamine in the subject's possession. At the time of this incident, Attkisson had two felony warrants out for his arrest. In addition to the existing warrants, he was charged with evading arrest, manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methaphetamines and drug paraphernalia. Attkisson had recently fled deputies who were attempting to serve the active arrest warrants multiple times.
