Lewis County Sheriff's Department makes massive bust in Hohenwald

On October 19, 2022 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Lewis County Sheriff's Department received a call of a reckless driver complaint coming into Lewis County on Summertown Highway. Deputy Kevin Slone conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in question and found Cameron Lee Malugin, 35, of Columbia, to be the driver/sole occupant.

Probable cause was determined to search and it was found that Malugin was in possession of approximately 83.17 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms (schedule I), 14 MDMA ecstasy tablets (schedule I), 1,157.1 grams of Methamphetamine (schedule II), 15.95 grams of Crack Cocaine (schedule II), 107.39 grams of Cocaine (schedule II), 81 Oxycodone 30mg tablets (schedule II), 66 Suboxone strips (schedule III), four Suboxone tablets (schedule III), 21 Clonazepam tablets (schedule IV), 1.5 Xanax (schedule IV), 40 Gabapentin tablets (schedule V), 191.81 grams of Marijuana (schedule VI), one THC vape cartridge (schedule VI), drug paraphernalia and a stolen Glock handgun.

Malugin was subsequently charged with 24 charges to include driving under the influence, driving on a revoked drivers license, two counts of possession of schedule I drugs with intent, four counts of possession of schedule II drugs with intent, possession of schedule III drugs with intent, possession of schedule IV with intent, possession of schedule V drugs with intent, possession of schedule VI drugs with intent, three counts of simple possession, assault on a peace officer, theft of property, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a firearm under the influence, and a host of driving offenses.

Malugin is currently in custody at the Lewis County Jail on a $314,000 bond. This case is still under investigation.

Sheriff Dewayne Kilpatrick states that all complaints that come are actively investigated and thanks the citizens for their support and cooperation. Sheriff Kilpatrick would also like to thank the Hohenwald Police Department for their assistance.
