Co-op Day of Service

November 10, 2022

Eighty Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative and Connect employees volunteered to participate in the 2022 Tennessee Co-op Day of Service. They spent time on October 20 picking up litter, serving at senior citizen centers, assembling and distributing food boxes, and delivering items collected for food and clothing drives in the MLEC five-county service area.

“Being able to serve our communities is always a blessing, and our employees look forward to the Co-op Day of Service each year,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “As a co-op, our mission is to improve the quality of life for the people and communities we serve but that commitment goes far beyond power and broadband. Our employees enjoy giving back and making a difference in their hometowns.”

The Tennessee Electric Co-op Day of Service is coordinated by the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association. More than 750 electric co-op employees are planning to devote 1,500 volunteer hours to complete 46 local community service projects across the state during this year’s event. In the six year history of the event, 2,700 employees have volunteered 6,500 hours to complete 153 individual service projects in co-op communities.

MLEC is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that serves more than 34,500 meters in Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lewis, and Perry counties. We are helping build brighter futures and make connections possible for those we serve. Learn more at mlec.com.
