Johnny Alvin Murphy, 70, of Hohenwald, passed away on January 4, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia. Mr. Murphy was born on July 20, 1952, in Maury County to the late Alvin Eugene and Betty Jane (Anderson) Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was an avid outdoorsman, spending his time hunting and fishing. He loved to hunt ginseng and watch wrestling but most of all he loved being with his family - especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Rita Murphy; children, Kristy Ann Smith and Johnny Alvin Murphy, Jr; step-children, Annie (Ted) Lanier, Darlena (Timmy) Burns, Diana (James) Reese, Christina Graham, and Robert (Destiny Burkey) Blish; siblings, Janice Bridges, Danny (Carla) Murphy, Tony (Bobbie) Murphy, Tammy (Jason) Baker, and Lesa Murphy; several grandchildren plus one on the way and many great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation with Mr. Murphy's family was Friday, January 6 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Rich Mayberry officiating. Burial followed in Sheboss Cemetery.
