August 11, 1956 - January 27, 2023

Miss Glenda Kaye Mitchell, a life-long resident of Hohenwald, departed this life for her Heavenly home on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the age of 66.

Glenda was born on August 11, 1956, to Frank E. and Lillie B. (Lowe) Mitchell in Hohenwald. Glenda attended and graduated from Lewis County Schools and then obtained a bachelors degree in biology from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. After that, she began courses to become a licensed practical nurse. Once she obtained her license, she was hired at the Lewis County Hospital, now known as Lewis Health Center, and worked there until her retirement.

Glenda cared for hundreds of ill patients during her time. She was known to be one of the most hard-working, dedicated, and loving nurses in her field. She made countless friends over her career and many of them considered her family as well. Glenda was soft-spoken and as humble as they come. She treated everyone how she wanted to be treated.

Above all, Glenda was a child of God. She hardly ever missed church. She attended Kimmins Church of Christ with her sisters for many, many years.

Glenda is survived on this earth by her sisters, Lillie M. Mitchell of Hohenwald, Frankie Mitchell of Hohenwald, and Linda Mitchell of Hohenwald, as well as numerous cousins, and countless friends.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday night, February 3, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Swiss Cemetery.
