Mrs. Era Nell Bates, of Hohenwald, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the age of 100.

She was born in Hohenwald, on March 2, 1923, to the late Willie Harden & Susie (Carroll) Harden. A homemaker most of her life, she also worked as a cook from the mid-1970s to the 1980s at the Lewis County Nursing Home. While her health allowed she attended the Trinity Assembly of God and enjoyed cooking & sewing.

She is survived by her son, Randy (Nora) Bates; brother, George Ottis Harden; sister, Aileen Peery; two grandchildren, Mark Bates and Tana Fetcho; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Shayla Fetcho.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Blandell Bates, son Tim Bates, daughter Brenda Mickey, brothers Elvis and Norman Harden, sister Elizabeth Harden and Dorothy Cantrell, and grandson Brandon Bates.

Visitation with the family was held at McDonald Funeral Home, Hohenwald on Thursday, March 30. Funeral services were held at McDonald Funeral Home, Hohenwald on Friday, March 31. Burial followed in the Palestine Cemetery.
