LCHS Tennis versus Mt. Pleasant

The LCHS tennis teams traveled to Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, March 28, for matches with the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers and Tigers.

Ruth Jennings opened girls’ singles play as the number one seed for the Lady Panthers facing the number one seed for the Lady Tigers. Jennings consistently broke service and controlled the match while taking an 8-0 win. In the number two seed match Brooke Mason was equally as dominant, taking down the Mt. Pleasant number two by a score of 8-1.

The Lady Panthers were 2-0 in singles play.

On the boys’ side Bryson Clayburn played as the number one for Lewis County and went back and forth with the Tiger’s number one seed in a tight matchup. Clayburn would narrowly lose the match 8-6. Ethan Powers was the number two for the Panthers and fell behind early in his match. Mt. Pleasant took the number two seed match with an 8-1 final. The number three seed for Lewis County was Julian Jones and his matchup was close throughout. Jones came up with a big service break and was able to secure an 8-6 win. Jeremiah Sparks played in the four-seed match for Lewis County and dropped behind in the opening points. Sparks fell 8-2 to the Mt. Pleasant four seed. Gavin Carroll, the five seed for Lewis County played in a close match with the Tiger’s five seed, each holding serve consistently, until one service break proved to make the difference in the match as Mt. Pleasant took the win 8-7.

Clayburn and Powers played as doubles partners in the first doubles match on the boys’ side. Clayburn and Powers were on the defensive most of the match and took the loss 8-3. Jones and Carroll were together in the second doubles match and fell behind midway through the match. Mt. Pleasant took the second doubles match with an 8-3 win

The Panthers finished 1-4 in singles play and 0-2 in doubles.
