LCHS Softball Hosts Frank Hughes

The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers hosted the Frank Hughes Lady Lions on Tuesday, March 21, at LCHS.

Kerrigan Reeves took the mound to start for the Lady Panthers and worked around a one-out error for a scoreless first. Gabii Ortiz singled to get things started in the bottom of the first and worked around the bases to score the games’ first run during Reeves’ at-bat. Reeves singled, Kinlee Keltner walked, and both would score on a single by C.J. Tanner and during Addi Osborne’s walk. Six-straight singles from Sophie Stutts, Zoe Clark, Olivia Smith, Ortiz, Reeves, and Keltner would bring home six more as Lewis County held an 9-0 lead moving to the second. Reeves pitched a perfect second, and the Lady Panthers squandered a leadoff single by Tanner and the score remained 9-0. Faith Wishaw came on in relief of Reeves in the third and walked four-straight before Keira Halbrooks replaced her. Halbrooks surrendered a walk and a single and Addie Morgan entered to pitch. Frank Hughes scored four in a long top of the third and cut the Lewis County lead to 9-4. Smith led off the home third with a single, and one out hits by Wishaw, Keltner, Morgan, Tanner, Osborne, and Stutts rebuilt the Lewis County lead to 15-4. Addie Morgan pitched a scoreless fourth and the Lady Panthers added two in the bottom half with hits from Ortiz, Keltner, Morgan, and Tanner to make it 17-4. Morgan finished off the Lady Lions in order to end the game in the fifth as Lewis County took a big 17-4 win at home.


C.J. Tanner had 4 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI, Gabii Ortiz 3 hits, 3 runs, and an RBI, Kinlee Keltner 3 hits, a double, 3 runs, and 2 RBI, Sophie Stutts 3 hits, a run, and 2 RBI, Olivia Smith 2 hits and 2 runs, Kerrigan Reeves 2 hits, a run, and 2 RBI, Addie Morgan 2 hits, a double, a run, and 2 RBI, Faith Wishaw a hit and a run, Addi Osborne a double, 2 runs, and an RBI, and Zoe Clark a hit, a run, and an RBI. Kerrigan Reeves went 2 innings allowing no runs and no hits while striking out 2. Faith Wishaw pitched to 4 batters allowing 4 runs with 4 walks, Keira Halbrooks gave up a hit and a walk to the two batters she faced, and Addie Morgan went 3 innings and allowed no runs while giving up a hit and a walk and striking out 5.
