Verlin Rose Horton George was born November 13, 1930 in Michie, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Denton R. and Velma Hardin Horton.

She was united in marriage to Malcom F. George on July 26, 1951. Malcom preceded her in death on December 15, 2022, following 71 years of marriage.

Verlin was a 1950 graduate of Selmer High School and also enrolled in extension courses offered through Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson.
