We are reaching out to ask for your help in discussing a serious matter with your student. The use of threatening language, whether in person or online, is a growing concern in schools today. Even if said in a joking manner, all threats made towards the school or its students must be taken seriously.
As of now, Tennessee law classifies any threats towards schools as a Class E felony, which carries significant consequences. Previously, such actions were considered a Class A misdemeanor, but recent changes reflect the increasing need to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
