Junior/Senior Prom set for June 27

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was necessary for Lewis County High School faculty to cancel this year’s Junior/Senior Prom. But that didn’t stop parents who had purchased attire and looked forward to their young men and women participating in this yearly event.

Parents and students began conducting meetings to see what the possibilities of holding the event were. After much deliberation, the event is now set to go.

The Lewis County High School Junior/Senior Prom is set for Saturday, June 27, 2020, 7-9 p.m., on the Lewis County Courthouse lawn. An area near the entrance of the courthouse will be reserved for pictures with family and friends beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 6:45 p.m. at which time everyone with the exception of juniors and seniors, designated chaperones and high school faculty will be asked to leave.

Covid guidelines will be enforced.

• The Prom on the courthouse lawn must be cancelled if there are more than 10 active cases of Covid-19 in Lewis County on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 3 p.m. (excluding jail and nursing home.)

• Students and/or guardians will sign a liability waiver and fill out a questionnaire the day of the Prom.

• Everyone’s temperature must be checked as they enter the Prom.

• No tobacco, vaping, alcohol or drugs will be allowed on the courthouse grounds.

• All 200 plus people at the Prom do not need to be huddled up together.
