NOTICE OF ELECTION

FEDERAL/STATE AND COUNTY GENERAL ELECTION

Tuesday, November 3, 2020

Pursuant to T.C.A. § 2-12-111(a), the Lewis County Election Commission does hereby give notice that a Federal/State and County General Election will be held at the various precincts in Lewis County, Tennessee, on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for the purpose of electing candidates seeking the following Federal, State, and County offices listed below.

FEDERAL AND STATE GENERAL ELECTION:

U.S. President (4-year term)

U.S. House of Representatives 7th Congressional District (2-year term)

State Senate 28th District (4-year term)

State House of Representatives 71st District (2-year term)


COUNTY GENERAL OFFICES:

County Commission – District 1 (unexpired term)

Constable – District 6 (unexpired term)

Constable – District 8 (unexpired term)

COUNTY GENERAL QUALIFYING DEADLINE: 12:00 NOON ON THURDAY, AUGUST 20, 2020.

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE

MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2020 is the last day to register in person at the Election Commission office in order to beeligible to vote in this election. Voter registration forms postmarked this date will be processed. Any forms postmarked after this date shall be held and processed after the election. (T.C.A. § 2-2-109)


If your name or address has changed or you have failed to vote in four (4) years, contact the Lewis County Election Commission, 35 Smith Avenue, Hohenwald, TN or call (931)796-0510.

NOTICE TO DISABLED OR ELDERLY VOTERS

Pursuant to T.C.A. §2-3-109, voters are advised that the Lewis County Election Commission office, 35 Smith Avenue,

Hohenwald, Tennessee, is a polling place that is accessible to physically disabled or elderly voters.

Disabled or elderly voters who believe that their polling place is inaccessible are encouraged to vote early or may vote at the Election Commission office on Election Day. Voters who desire to vote at the Election Commission office on Election Day must complete an affidavit at the Commission Office stating that their designated polling place is inaccessible. This affidavit must be received at the Election Commission no later than Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Disabled or elderly voters have the right to vote by absentee ballot or during the early voting period pursuant to the provisions of T.C.A. §2-6-201. If information is needed for absentee or early voting procedures, please contact the Lewis County Election Commission office at 796-0510 as soon as possible.

The Election Commission office does NOT discriminate on the basis of disability. If there are questions about needed accommodations in the voting process, please call (931) 796-0510.

If you vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day you must present a photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government. Those IDs may be current or expired. College student IDs and photo IDs issued by cities, counties and other states will NOT be accepted.

NOTICE OF ELECTION COMMISSION LOCATION, HOURS, DATES OPEN

The Lewis County Election Commission office is located in the War Memorial Building, 35 Smith Avenue, Hohenwald, Tennessee. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, Monday through Friday. The Lewis County Election Commission office will be CLOSED for holidays as follows: Monday, September 7, 2020 in observation of Labor Day.
