Halloween Happenings

October 28, 2021

Halloween falls on a Sunday this year which has left many wondering when to get all dressed up and go trick-or-treating. Luckily for Halloween enthusiasts, having Halloween on a Sunday means there are plenty of activities all weekend long.

The family fun can start as early as Friday, October 29, at Land of the South Realty and Taz Excavating as they will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat event from 3 to 5 p.m. at 843 Buffalo Road. Costumes are encouraged.

After scoring a bag full of candy from Land of the South Realty, head on over to the Lewis County Public Library's parking lot where the American Legion Auxiliary Post 127 will also hold their Trunk-or-Treat event. This event is open to kids of all ages on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. If you have any questions, your contact will be President Terri Carroll at (931) 306-1331. The library is located at 15 Kyle Avenue.

Your family's Saturday activities can start as early as 10:00 in the morning if you have little ones running around! The Lewis County Public Library will be hosting a "Not-So-Spooky" Storytime on the lawn between the courthouse and library. Costumes are encouraged. There will be some "Not-So-Spooky" songs to sing, "Not-So-Spooky" stories to listen to and treats to take 'n' make, weather permitting. To find out more about library events visit http://www.facebook.com/lewislibrary, or contact the Lewis County Public Library and Archives at 931-796-5365.

The Lewis County Elks Lodge will be throwing their second annual Trunk-or-Treat which will be held at Memorial Park on Saturday from 1:30-4:30 pm. Costumes will not be required but are definitely encouraged. There will be tons of candy and even giveaway prizes! Trunk-or-Treaters will cast their vote for their favorite Halloween-themed vehicle. Giveaways will be drawn and the best vehicle will be announced at 4 pm. Anyone who would like to participate can contact any Elks member or Brandy Bennett at (931) 306-4327.

Then the Halloween festivities will continue over to AHC Lewis County where anyone wanting to wish residents a Happy Halloween are invited to participate in a Halloween Parade from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to park at the top of the hill and walk down through the parking lot. Residents will be lined up to see the parade and staff members will be handing out candy (with appropriate social distancing measures and masks in place). AHC Lewis County is located at 119 Kittrell Street.

The fun then continues over to the Sheriff's Department where they will host a Trunk-or-Treat event in the jail parking lot from 4-7 pm on Saturday.

The Sanctuary UPC will host a "Falloween Jesus Festival," where families can enjoy food, games lots and lots of candy, and even inflatables! The event starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday at 95 Swan Avenue.

There will be inflatables, music, a photo booth, cupcake walk, face painting, games, hayrides and a tremendous amount of candy! The event is free to the public and all are welcome.
