The Lewis County Middle School Panthers hosted the Mt. Pleasant Middle School Tigers on Tuesday, March 15th at Lynn Tiller Field on the campus of Lewis County High School.

Jalen Smith took the mound for Lewis County and worked a perfect first inning. In the bottom half of the first Dakota Hull drew a one out walk and was followed by a Braylon Bean single, but Lewis County would come up empty in the home first and the score was 0-0 moving to the second. Smith was on point again.

In the second inning, facing the minimum. Kolt Skelton started the bottom of the second with a single and Smith walked. Nate James stroked a single, but Kolt Skelton was cut down trying to score. Cayleb Moore walked to load the bases ahead of a Phenix McDonald RBI single. Maddox Tanner added a 2-run double, Hull walked, and Bean drove in another with a single and Kegan Carroll-Clayton brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

A walk by Skelton and then hits from Smith, James, and McDonald would plate 2 more and Moore would be hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to add to the lead. Walks to Tanner and Hull would bring in more runs and the Panthers would pull out to an 11-0 lead after two complete innings.

Jalen Smith would return for his third inning of work and strike out the first two Tiger batters of the inning before surrendering a single to center. Smith worked around the two-out hit and strike out the final out of the third.

Carroll-Clayton, Skelton, and Smith walked to start the bottom of the third and Nate James brought home a run on a fielder’s choice. Moore walked to load the bases and McDonald brought in another run on a sacrifice fly. Maddox Tanner would single to bring in Smith and Lewis County took a 14-0 lead into the fourth.

Jalen Smith worked out of a two-out jam to shut out the Tigers and Lewis County took the 14-0 win.

Maddox Tanner had 2 hits, a double, 1 run, and 4 RBIs. Nate James had 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI, Braylon Bean 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 RBI, Kolt SKelton 1 hit and 2 runs scored, Jalen Smith 1 hit, 3 runs, and an RBI, Phenix McDonald a hit, a run, and 2 RBI, Dakota Hull 1 run and 1 RBI, Kegan Carroll-Clayton 1 run and 1 RBI, and Cayleb Moore 2 runs and an RBI. Jalen Smith went 4 innings for the win, gave up no runs on 1 hit, striking out 3 and walking 1.
