February 3, 1941 - April 24, 2022

Mr. Jerry Ronald Otwell, age 81, husband of Greta Delantar Otwell, and a resident of Hohenwald, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his residence.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran officiating. A graveside service was held on Wednesday at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Alabama with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps; burial followed. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 3, 1941, in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, Jerry was the son of the late Jack Otwell and late Kathleen Goolsby Otwell. He bravely served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was employed at NASA for 25 years until retirement in 1997. Jerry was involved in such feats as the Apollo 11 Moon Landing on July 20, 1969, and the Sputnik 1 Satellite Launch Pad. He married Greta Delantar on December 6, 2003. He was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and watching Auburn Football and Basketball. Jerry was also a realtor for many years and was a dedicated member of the Fairfield Masonic Lodge No. 749 in Pleasant Grove, Alabama.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry Michael (Diana) Otwell; daughter, Jamie Suzanne Otwell; sister, Gloria Lynn (Ron)Daniel; nephew: Darek Daniel; and two grandchildren, Matthew Otwell and Andrew Otwell.
