The Lewis County High School tennis teams hosted the East Hickman Lady Eagles and Eagles on Monday, April 18th.

In girls’ play, Ryleigh Ruddle for Lewis County and Bri Janson of East Hickman faced each other in the matchup of number 1 seeds. Ryleigh Ruddle dominated the match for Lewis County as she defeated Janson by a score of 8-1. In the number 2 seed match it was Ruth Jennings of Lewis County against East Hickman’s McKenzie Moore. In a tight matchup that needed extra points to decide, it was East Hickman’s Moore that outlasted Jennings 9-7. Brooke Mason was the number 3 seed for the Lady Panthers and she faced Karly Martin, the number 3 seed for the Lady Eagles. Mason controlled the matchup from the early points and took the win 8-2. In the final singles match, Serenity Warman, Lady Panther number 4 seed, took on East Hickman’s number 4 Madison Sabala. Warman shut out Sabala by a score of 8-0. In girls’ doubles play, Lewis County duo of Ruth Jennings and Serenity Warman faced East Hickman’s Bri Janson and Madison Sabala. The team of Jennings and Warman took the win for Lewis County behind an 8-6 score. In the final doubles match on the girls’ side Lewis County paired Brooke Mason with Kaylee Collins against Lady Eagle pairing of Karly Martin and McKenzie Moore. Mason and Collins dominated the doubles match, defeating Martin and Moore 8-1.


The Lady Panthers finished 3-1 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action.

In a limited boys’ slate, Bryson Clayburn of Lewis County took on Ian Brown of East Hickman in the matchup of number 1 seeds. Clayburn had little problem with Brown as he pulled away to an 8-1 victory in the number 1 seed match. Malachi Bruce played as the number 2 seed for the Panthers and faced Blaze Schmidt, number 2 seed for the Eagles. Bruce was able to completely shut down Schmidt and shut out the Eagle number 2 by a score of 8-0. In the lone doubles match on the boys side, Bryson Clayburn and Malachi Bruce took on the duo of Ian Brown and Blaze Schmidt of East. Clayburn and Bruce made quick work of the East pair, taking the win 8-1

The Panthers were 2-0 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles.
