The Director of Lewis County Schools announces acceptance of applications for Bus Lot Maintenance and Mechanic. Applications are available at: http://lewisk12.org. or the Lewis County Board of Education office, 206 South Court Street, Hohenwald, TN 38462. Applications must be completed in its entirety.

Applicant must have HS Diploma and Commitment to obtain a valid CDL license with Passenger and School Bus endorsements upon employment.

Bus Lot Maintenance and Mechanic is a system-wide position with responsibility for the following duties:

• Daily Management and Oversight of Student Buses/school vehicles and bus garage

• Employee is to make sure all spare and backup buses are fueled and ready to start

• Service buses/school vehicles including oil changes on a systematic basis

• Minor repairs and/or overseeing repairs; change batteries as necessary, and other duties as required

• Randomly check buses for cleanliness and report results to Supervisor

• Remove bus monitoring tapes/DVD’s and transport to Director of Schools’ office in a timely manner

• Documenting and managing tire rotation and/or replacement as needed

• Prepare buses and aide in the inspection of all school vehicles

• Start buses for drivers in cold weather

• On call during routes and activities

• Other duties as needed to ensure a safe bus and school vehicle fleet

• Maintain CDL licensure by obtaining yearly physicals and training per the Department of Safety

This position may include training and testing of new drivers as a Third Party Tester.

This list is not all inclusive and is subject to change as necessary by the Director of Lewis County Schools.

The Bus Lot Maintenance and Mechanic will report directly to the Transportation Supervisor and/or Plant Operations Supervisors for matters pertaining to buses, bus drivers or student concerns.

Salary will be based upon experience and qualifications.
