Descendants of John and Jane Talley held a reunion on July 23, 2022, at the Lomax Church of Christ, Service Center, in Hohenwald. The theme of the event was "deep roots, many branches", a testament to the many families that share a link with John Talley.

This was the first reunion that included descendants of five of their nine known children.

Fifty descendants attended the event. Seven came from out of state. They were Gloria Cravens Spinks (Illinois); Marilyn Talley Rains (Oklahoma); Charles Carlin Talley (Minnesota); William Bruce Talley (Illinois); Frankie Lee Talley (Alabama); Robert Talley (Florida); and Anita Safford (Florida).

John Talley was born in 1761 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. During the Revolutionary War, he served in the Continental Army with the 3rd Continental Light Dragoons.

After the war, he and Jane lived in North Carolina and Georgia before settling in Williamson County and, finally, Perry County. Many of their descendants still live in Lewis, Hickman, and Perry County. Others migrated to Texas, Arkansas, and southern Illinois.
