Jerry Ammons, of Hohenwald, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, two days shy of his 82nd birthday. He was born in Hohenwald on July 27, 1940 to the late Carlos Don Ammons and Sarah (Lynch) Ammons.
In 1959, Mr. Ammons bought a small hometown grocery store on Swan Avenue. From that point forward, Ammons Shop-Rite Market would become famous for its custom-made meat and sandwiches. If asked today, the majority of Hohenwald would say, they made the best bologna sandwiches in the south. But it wasn't just bologna they were known for, they were also known for meats...
