Oscar Vernon Reeves Sr.

On August 15, 2022, at the age of 84, Oscar Vernon Reeves Sr. peacefully passed away at his Hohenwald home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Reeves was born on February 2, 1938, in Lewis County to the late Homer E. and Willie L. Thompson Reeves.

He and his wife Martha attended New Hope Baptist Church in Hohenwald. Oscar will always be remembered as a fun-loving, always happy family man. He loved nothing more than his family, especially spoiling all his grandbabies. He was always known to be a man of nature and spent most of his days outside. Oscar enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, and raising cattle. He took pride in his gardening skills and loved to show off his flowers and vegetables. Some of his best times recently was using his new gift, a side-by-side, and riding every chance he got.

Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife, Martha Hickerson Reeves; his children, Valaurie (Hulon) Dunn and Victor Reeves; his grandchildren, Sasha D. Hinson (Michael), Joshua W. Barnett (Hannah), Corey Dunn, Holden Reeves, Cullen Reeves, Cooper Reeves (Lydia York), Danielle Adkins, Daniel Peery (Miranda), Devin Peery, Danae Holt (Dustin), and Dillon Hensley. He also leaves behind to cherish and carry on his memory his siblings, Wilma Bryant, Wanda Creasy (Johnny) and Margaret Stowe; his stepchildren, Katrina Adkins, Debra Peery (Mike), and Donnie (Donna) Hensley; and his great-grandchildren, Lincoln Hinson, Oakley Reeves, Colt Peery, Cason Peery, Macy Gardner and Braxton Peery.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Oscar V. Reeves Jr.; and his siblings, Carlton Reeves, Howard Reeves, and Loudean Stephens. He was also preceded by his first wife, Nora Lee Hinson Reeves.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20 at New Hope Baptist Church in Hohenwald with Brother Jerry McDonald and Brother Bill Webb officiating. Burial took place immediately after the funeral service at Deavers Cemetery.

Adair Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
