The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers visited the E.O. Coffman Middle School Lady Panthers on Wednesday, September 7th for a varsity match.
With the fist set tied at 1 in the second rotation, the Coffman girls ran off 7 straight points to pull out to an 8-1 lead. Lewis County would hit a wall, failing to hold service for their next six rotations and falling further behind as Coffman took a 23-6 lead into the eighth rotation, ultimately taking the opening set of the match 25-8. After a break the Lady Panthers bounced back early in the second set. In the Lewis County half of the first rotation, the Lady Panthers reeled off 5 straight points to take a 5-1 lead. After each team exchanged short scoring runs the Lady Panthers clung to a 12-10 lead after five complete rotations. A four-point run in the sixth rotation gave the Lady Panthers a 16-11 lead, and Coffman answered in the seventh rotation with a 3-point run and broke Lewis County’s serve. The set would remain tight to the end, going into extra points before Coffman completed their comeback in the set and took the set win 26-24 and the match 2-0.
