Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
An evening talk will be presented by Meredith Kotelect, a Certified Herbal Practitioner to the Lewis County Historical Society. She gives talks and workshops at local events and organizations, She will present the safe and historical uses of herbal plants.
There is a resurgence of interest in these plants. They have played an important role in our past and even now, perhaps it is because of a need to remember this knowledge, a distrust of medical professions and drugs, or because medicine today is getting expensive. Whatever the reason, many feel the need to pass on this knowledge, to learn more, to preserve history, and to help ourselves.
Our knowledge of herbal plants needs to be collected, recorded, written down, and passed on. Native people said that plants have much to teach us, that every plant has a purpose. Many wildflower books will include medical use plants, herbal books are dedicated to teaching us about their uses. Pharmacognosy is a branch of pharmacy in collage that research these old remedied using herbs for developing new medicines.
The meeting will be on November 7, 2022 6:00 p.m. at the High Forest Room In the old Genesco building at Memorial Park.
Please bring examples and testimonials of your own knowledge of using herbs, all are welcome to come and share this interesting and important history and learning.
