Annette Peery has chosen to honor the memory of her mother and father, William T. (Willie) and Vesta Rasbury with a $5,000 donation to the Library Expansion Fund. Her father, Willie, was Lewis County Trustee for 24 years, 1958-1982 and County Executive (Mayor) from 1982-1986 serving in the court house for a total of 28 years. Her mother, Vesta, taught third grade in Hohenwald Elementary School for over 30 years. They both loved, supported, and appreciated education and history. The library is a great education resource, and the archives is sorely needed to preserve so much of our documents and artifacts that are in danger of being lost.

The fund now stands at almost $346,000, an amazing amount for a community such as ours; but the first phase of construction will require $750,000. Much work remains to be done for this project. Phase One will include a larger community meeting room and collaborative study spaces, a new ADA-accessible entrance and improved amenities such restrooms and parking.

"I urge all who can to consider year-end gifts to the fund, and let's get this building on the ground," stated Annette.
