Library and Archives installs solar charging bench

There's a new bench near the front entrance of Lewis County Public Library and Archives, on Kyle Street, that is powered by the sun! Manufactured by Sun Charge Systems, the new seating option allows patrons to plug their charging cord into one of four rapid-charging USB ports located on the bench to charge their electronic devices. The system is completely self-sufficient, storing power collected by a solar panel to a built in battery. As an added bonus, the library and archives' free Wi-Fi can keep residents connected while they charge.

Funding for the bench was made possible through state grant funds awarded to Lewis County Government. "We are grateful to Mayor Keltner (above, seated) and the Lewis County Commission for making the purchase of this bench possible," stated Crystal Nash, Library Director (above, standing). "This bench is a great addition to the services our library currently offers, including Wi-Fi, hotspots, and computer access. Now our patrons will have a place to charge their devices, even after library hours."
