"Having tangible proof, a paper trail, of the election results has really brought a peace of mind to the voters of this community," says Administrator of Elections Rusty Isbell, referencing the new voting machines first used in August of 2022 by approximately 8,000 voters. "Tennessee is voted #1 in the country in election integrity. With the consistent checks and balances, accountability and action, it is no secret as to why."

This May, voters will return to the polls to elect a Hohenwald City Mayor and four City Councilmen. Danny McKnight is the current sitting Mayor, and his councilmen include Vice Mayor Don Barber, Scottie Bass, Cody Mitchell and Kevin King. While several have picked up petition papers since registration opened December 19th, only the sitting Mayor Danny McKnight has turned them back in. One other person, Jason Lindsey, has picked up papers for the position of Mayor. As of press time on Tuesday, Councilmen petitions have been picked up by the following incumbents: Vice Mayor Don Barber, Scottie Bass, and Kevin King. Others who are working to get the signatures needed to return their petitions to the election office include, Blake Farr, Susan Hensley, Mike Ricketts, and Chris Trull.

"On the website, you'll find the most updated information regarding election day, qualifying deadlines, early voting dates, last election results and more. When all petitions have been returned, I will update the website to reflect those that will be on the May 4th ballot," informed Administrator Isbell. "Early voting will be here at the Election Office. Day-of voting will be held at City Hall, Memorial Park's Community Building, and the National Guard Armory."
