Three day long manhunt ends in arrest

January 26, 2023

On January 12, 2023, Lewis County Sheriff Department Deputy Mckenzie Potts and Sergeant Todd Webb were dispatched to 168 Ashley Road. When they arrived, Daniel Lee Brewer fled from deputies in a blue Nissan Sentra with a female in the vehicle. Law enforcement pursued but were unable to catch Brewer at that time.

On January 13, Lewis County Dispatch received a call from the female's mother wanting a welfare check on her. When Deputies Nicholas Reeves and Dustin Carroll arrived, Brewer was on the front porch, and he went into the house and out the back door into the woods.

At that time, the female victim was found and taken to the hospital with Brewer still at large.

She had a large laceration on her face along with bruising on the majority of her body. She stated she thought her ribs, wrist, and ankle could possibly be broken and that Brewer had strangled her until she passed out and was holding her against her will and would not allow her to make any phone calls.

The victim stated that the day before, Brewer took her down a dirt road and into the woods, grabbed a stick and beat her with it because he found out she tried to contact her mother and notify law enforcement.

January 14, Brewer was seen on Grinders Creek Road and Whitehead Road. Deputies Carroll and Reeves noticed Brewer was in the passenger seat of his brother's truck. Chief Matt Tiller attempted to stop the vehicle, then Brewer got out of the truck and ran into a wooden area. Deputies made verbal commands to stop running and that Brewer was under arrest for having active warrants.

Deputies Reeves, McKenzie Potts, Ben Moore, Carroll, Chief Tiller, Tony Grillo and Hohenwald Police Department Officer Robbie Hooks and K9 Cir attempted to apprehend Brewer after a foot pursuit. Deputy Reeves was then able to place Brewer into custody and he was transported to the Lewis County Jail for booking.

Brewer was charged with evading arrest, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, interference with emergency calls, and domestic assault.
