Community Leaders Seek $2 Million Grant to Strengthen Public Safety

Community leaders from Lewis County and Perry County recently met to finalize plans to jointly apply for a grant to strengthen public safety in their communities.

If approved, the "Violent Crime Intervention Fund" grant would provide a total of $2,000,000 to be equally split between the Hohenwald Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff's Department and the Perry County Sheriff's Department in order to conjointly address violent crime.

The extensive grant application was written by Captain Christie Moore of the Lewis County Jail, and is 100% fully-funded by the Tennessee Office of Criminal...
