Two hundred and fifty 4-Her's participated in a Baking Demonstration Project for the final project of the year throughout the months of February and March. Each participating student shared their recipe with the class and submitted their baked good for judging. Entries were judged on the following: texture, color, flavor, shape, volume, and general appearance of the entry. Each class was awarded a first, second, and third place ribbon with one overall winner selected from each grade level.

Lyla Hinson

The objective of the project was to expose the student to new things and possibly master a new skill, identify common pans used in baking, learn to read a recipe, review basic kitchen hygiene including washing hands and tying back hair, measure wet and dry ingredients correctly, and learn how to safely use kitchen appliances.

Overall grade winners are: Fourth Grade cookies - Lyla Hinson; Fifth Grade cupcakes - Jonnapur Breedlove; Sixth Grade muffins - Amiyiah Kauffman; Seventh Grade cornbread - Qualls Dickerson; and Eighth Grade quick bread - Levi Graham.
