and Archives

The initial event in the Lewis and Clark Lecture Series saw a satisfying turnout for Tony Turnbow's talk.

Over 30 people learned of new connections that Meriwether Lewis had to the original Natchez Trace when Turnbow spoke at the library and archives on April 1. A number of attendees traveled from various states to hear the presentation.

The next event will be April 15 with the guest speaker Char Ollinger Waughtel discussing her ancestor Dr. Antoine Saugrain. The lecture series is being held in conjunction with "Reimagining America: The Maps of Lewis and Clark" a traveling exhibit on display at the Hohenwald Depot now through May 6. The exhibit and lecture series is co-sponsored by the Lewis County Historical Society, the Friends of the Library, and the Meriwether Lewis Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation. A portion of funding has been provided by Humanities Tennessee.
