Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
On Friday, May 5, 2023, at the age of 79, David Curtis Brewer unexpectedly passed away at his Hohenwald home. He was born in Lewis County on March 24, 1944, to the late Virgil and Pearl Morrison Brewer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Joyce James, Betty Jo James, and Linda Zimmerman and brothers James Brewer, Ray Brewer, Tony Brewer, Carl Brewer, and Ritchie Brewer.
If you knew Mr. David then you knew the passion he had for instruments, especially those of the blue grass family. Just two weeks ago he attended a concert as well as many blue grass festivals throughout the year. Mr. Brewer was also known to travel to many places to watch civil war re-enactments and fulfill his love for American History. When he had time at home there was no other place, he wanted to be than in his garden or tending to his honeybees. Most know Mr. David from his work with our local Sheriff’s department. He worked with the deputies on the wood program that allowed citizens of Lewis County to have wood for heating during the colder months.
Mr. David will live on in the memories of his two daughters Machelle Brewer (Shylo Bristol) and Christy Gross (Brian); grandchildren Kyle Haywood, Kyla Stewart, Kayla Shreve (Marcus) and Crystal Jones (Ian). He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren Jacoby Rainey, Davin Johnston, Emma Johnston, Tristan Stewart, Lucy Jones, Haven Stewart, and Harper Stewart; his sister Dorothy (Donald) Crowell, and his brother Wayne (Linda) Brewer; as well as his special friend Shirley Harper.
Visitation was held in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, and again Wednesday May 10, 2023, until time of service of 1:00 p.m. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens in Hohenwald.
Adair Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
