24-Hour Emergency Health Care Facility Study Committee Appointed

The vast majority of residents and businesses in Lewis County, along with the County Mayor and all the members of the Lewis County Board of Commissioners, have expressed the critically important need for a 24-hour Emergency Health Care Facility in Lewis County. Due to these inquiries, a committee to study the feasibility has been created. The committee will research what it would take to operate the facility in Lewis County by holding meetings, conducting research, making recommendations, developing a report, and presenting their findings to the Lewis County Commission no later than November of 2023.

Several of the 15 applicants came before the Lewis County Board of Commissioners in regular session on Monday, May 15, to present themselves as willing and able by way of application as well as publicly speaking on their personal and professional experience in the healthcare field. The commission voted to take the week to review the applications, and during a special-called meeting held May 22, 2023, eleven individuals were appointed as the first ever “24-Hour Emergency Health Care Facility Study Committee.”

Commissioners Kyle Bobo, Caleb Feichtinger, and Bradley Loveless have been appointed to voluntarily serve alongside Lewis County Mayor Jonah Keltner, Hohenwald City Mayor Danny McKnight, and City Vice Mayor Don Barber, as well as Linda Grimes, 35 year resident of Lewis County and retired CNA, Susan Hensley who has worked in healthcare since 1991, Jessica Putney who currently works for the joint commission managing over 400 hospitals, Thomas Reed, retired RN of 35 years, and Mike Webb who worked 13 years for Buffalo River Health Services as both a CNA and PT Assistant.
