Series: Letter to the Editor | Story 40

Mr. K. Wesley Carroll, thank you so much for your comments in your letter of May 4th on the recent shooting at The Covenant School. It was a tragic event, and I think your letter illustrated how deeply it affected us all.

It also showed how much we need solutions to the problem of armed violence, whether it happens in our homes, our schools, churches, or supermarkets. We all want the same thing, to be safe. I hear so often that there’s just one solution that will take care of this problem, but I suspect it’s going to take many good ideas enacted together to fix it.

We have a lot of talented people with the skills we need to make our country a safer place. We don’t have to settle for a single solution, just agree to try each other’s ideas until we see results.

We live in a great county, in a great state, in the greatest country on earth. There isn’t any problem we can’t solve. Let’s start by talking about what plans are out there. They may not seem perfect to us but some of them might be good enough to make a difference.
