St. Jude's Golf Tournament a success despite rain

 

The annual St. Jude’s Golf Tournament in Hohenwald has raised between $250,000 to $300,000 over the last 18 years for the Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

This year’s 18th annual event had to be moved to the following week after heavy rains cancelled the opening day. The rains still came and the golfers turned out to support a worthwhile cause, raising over $20,000.

Organizer Wayne Tiller and his band of helpers included Lynn and Betsy Tiller, Tommy and Jennifer Tiller, Wayne and Linda Brewer, Tom and Cynthia Kilpatrick, Shelby Hinson, Blake Chappell, Tim Tiller, Diann Dodd, Cindy Tiller, Kay Parrish, Cole Farr, Wilma Churchwell, Deena Reeves, Sandra Thompson, Lee Ann Alford, the staff of Hohenwald Municipal Golf Course and the host of businesses and individuals who supported the event by sponsoring a hole or the event.

Winners were: Championship FH: First -17 Matt Anderson, J. Thompson, A. Hopper. Second - 11 T. Browning, C. Reeves, R. Reeves. 3rd -11 M. Roberts, B. Brewer, J. Roberts.

1st Flight: First - E. Lomax, C. Lomax, M DePriest. Second -7 J. King, D. Taylor, D. Fondren. Third - 7 M. Parker, B. Hankins, J. Miller.

2nd Flight. First - W. Clark - 3 N. Clark, D. Putnam. Second - T. Hayes, E. Young, B. Barnes. Third - L. Potts, Steve, D. Kilpatrick.
